I have a debian 8 server running a ruby application, we had a problem with the application so we restarted the server and since then i can't resolve any IP adresse or DNS (beside localhost and the server's own public IP) here is what i did so far:
- Tried to ping multiple IPs and DNS but all the packets are lost and no packets received
- Restarted the networking service (both with
sudo service networking restartand
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
- Tried Traceroute 22.214.171.124 but all i've got is multiple '*'
- flushed iptables
- restarted the server again
Someone had the same problem before ? any solutions or suggestions?
here is result for
sudo cat /etc/resolv.conf :
online.net search online.net nameserver 126.96.36.199 nameserver 188.8.131.52
I've tried to change the nameservers to 184.108.40.206 and 220.127.116.11
and here is the results for
source /etc/network/interfaces.d/* # The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback # The primary network interface allow-hotplug eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp
cat /etc/hosts :
127.0.0.1 localhost # The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts ::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback ff02::1 ip6-allnodes ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ip a (please note that i changed some numbers to X, Y and Z since i don't know the security implications of giving out the full IPs and mac adresses) :

I am sorry for pasting all these infos, i am not very good at networking or linux administration and been troubleshooting this for the last two days without any luck.
